Happy New Year
I am excited about this new year. Have you thought of what you want to do for God in 2017? Pastor and I were talking about this yesterday. I want to work at reaching more people with the gospel. And teach our ladies (you) more of the scriptures. And being more diligent about teaching and training my children. I hope you have been thinking about the Lord and what you want to do for Him this year. God Bless You!

Were you at church today?
Do you ever think about what you missed by not being at church? You missed a lot! You missed being encouraged by your friends. You missed encourage others just by your presence. You missed being challenged in your walk with the Lord. You missed God blessing you for walking n obedience to Him. You missed the closeness of Godly friends in your time of struggle. You missed the closeness of God in your life during the time of corporate worship. What else did miss? Probably many, many other important blessings that you missed simple because you put yourself before God and His people. I hope you are challenged by this post. And I hope to see you at our next service!

Proverbs 31 lesson tonight
Wow! I didn't realize how long it had been since my last post. Well anyway, I hope everyone is planning on being here tonight for our monthly ladies meeting. Last month we only had 3 of us. I just finished putting together the lesson for tonight and boy is it a doozy. Come planning on getting your toes stepped on, or maybe I should say your mouth and heart. As this is what the lesson is really about. Well, I can't wait to see all of you at the church tonight at 6:30pm.

The ladies retreat was great!
If you were not able to come with us to the ladies retreat in St. Joe you really missed out. We were greatly challenged from the ladies that spoke and God's Word. The theme was "When life gives you lemons make lemonade". The lesson was yield to the Lord and let Him make your life sweet and sometimes that includes somethings that we don't like but He knows will make us more like Him. I was just greatly encouraged! The Lord really worked. I hope everyone will consider going with us next year.

Ladies Retreat
Well, I guess that I am not very good at posting on this blog. I think that I get busy and just don't think of it or sometimes I will be in the middle of posting and will get interrupted. Anyway, we are heading to the Bible Baptist Temple Ladies Retreat in St. Joseph, Missouri today at 1:00 pm. This year there are only 4 of us going, nut we plan on having a great time. We will come back with great encouragement for other ladies to join us next year. Hope you have a blessed day! See you on Sunday for our Sunday School Olympics at 10:00 am.

Christmas is coming soon!
Well as Christmas approaches we are all in a tizzy. We have had our decorations up for a month already. But now that Thanksgiving is past and all the feasting is over for a few weeks we look forward to celebrating the birth of Christ. Our family loves this time of year, not just the presents, but the time when everyone is thinking and singing about our Savior. I hope as you prepare all the packages and treats you will take a time as a family to truly reflect on what the season should be about.

Lydia from Acts 16
Tonight the focus of our Bible study will be Lydia and how the gospel came to her, how she had her heart opened to salvation and how it changed her life. Are you seeking the true God? Is He drawing you to Him? Do you have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to truly believe? Come tonight and be challenged.

SIS meeting cancelled
I just wanted to let everyone know that the meeting tonight is cancelled. Pastor and I will be going to visit the Jacob family. Julia, their eight year old daughter, is in the hospital. Her appendix ruptured and she had to have emergency surgery. She is also diabetic and then she had an allergic reaction in the hospital to some of the medications. Please pray for their family. We hav offered to take the other kids until she is out of the hospital. But I am not sure what they will decide. Julia was doing better as of last night. But the doctor says it will take some time to recover. I will let you know when the next SIS meeting will be so stay posted.

We had a great time at the S.I.S. meeting.
We studied the person of Mary Magdalene in the Bible. Mary was quite different than the other women that we have studied because of her very dark past. Although there is not much said about her past accept that she was set free by Christ from the torment of seven demons. We did go through Scripture to see what her past must have been like by studying what other demon possed people were like. We learned why she must have loved Christ so much. Because she was set free from much. She loved Christ so much that He bestowed the honor of being the first one to see Him after His resurrection. At seeing Him outside the tomb and realizing Who He was she grab onto Him like she would never let go. This is quite a contrast to even the disciples, especially Thomas, and to us today who many time need to be coax along to draw closer to Christ. So our challenge was, how much do you love Christ? Enough to never let go? I challenge you even now to examine you life and see where you place Christ today.

OBBC Ladies
I just wanted to thank all the ladies here at Onawa Bible Baptist Church for helping as we get ready for the next couple of weeks. Next week we have the Harvest Party. Thanks for all the cookies, candy and hot chocolate, And thanks in advance for the help at the party. Then in a couple of weeks we will start our family revival with the Deckers. The dates are November 6-10 at 7:00 pm each night. I pray that everyone will be there each night to be challenged from God's Word. After the services each night we will have a time of fellowship, so if you can bring a snack to share that would be great. I can't wait for all the excitement, but the preparations are what brings it all together. Thanks ladies for all your help.

Upcoming Ladies meetings
I would like to encourage all ladies to come to our next S.I.S.(Sisters In Spirit) meeting. It is on Monday, June 24th, at 6:30 pm at the church. I have the privilege to teach God's Word to the ladies during this special time. Currently we are in a series on the Extraordinary women of the Bible. Our next lesson is on Anna. There are only a few verses about her but we as Christian ladies can glean much from her. I look forward to seeing you there.
